የማሽተት አቅም መዳከም የተለያዩ የጤና ችግሮች መኖራቸውን አመላካች መሆኑን አንድ ጥናት አመለከተ፡፡

በተለይም እድሜያቸው የገፉ ሰዎች ላይ እስከ 46 በመቶ ያህል የማሽተት አቅም መዳከም ከታየ በሚቀጥሉት 10 ዓመታት ውስጥ ለሞት ለሚያደርሱ ችግሮች ስለመጋለጣቸው አመላክች መሆኑ ተገልጿል፡፡

አናልስ በተባለው በአሜሪካ የውስጥ ደዌ መድሃኒት አቅረቢ ድርጅት በተሰራው ጥናት እድሚያቸው ከ71 እስከ 82 በሆኑ 2 ሺህ 289 ሰዎች ላይ 12 የተለያዩ ጠረኖች የተለመደ ማዓዛ፣ መጥፎ ወይንም መልካም ጠርን ያላቸው ብለው እንዲለዩ ተደርጓል፡፡

በዚህም የመርሳትና አዕምሮ በሽታን ጨምሮ ገዳይ ለሆኑ የተለያዩ ችግሮች የተጋለጡ ሰዎች የማሽተት ውስንነታቸው ከፍ ብሎ ተስተውሏል፡፡

የማሽተት ስሜት የተባለሹና የተመረዙ ምግቦችን፣ ለጤና አደገኛ የሆኑ ኬሚካሎችን ለመለየትና ንጽህናንና ጤናን ለመጠበቅ ጠቃሚ መሆኑ እሙን ነው፡፡

ከዚህም ሌላ የምግብ ፍላጎትን ለመክፈትና ለአመጋገብ ስርዓትም የራሱ ድርሻ እንዳለው ይነገራል፡፡

የማሽተት ስሜትን ለአዕምሮ የሚያደርሰው “ኦልፋክተሪ” የተባለው ነርቭ በውጫዊ ተጽኅኖ ጉዳት ሊያርፍበት የሚችል፣ በአዕምሮ በሽታዎች የሚጠቃት እድል ያለውና በዚህም የማሽተት ችሎታ ሊዳከም እንደሚችል የጥናቱ መሪ ተናግረዋል፡፡
